While I was in Sapa and wanted to go to Laos there are basically 2 options – take the plane or go by bus. Spending some time on planes in Vietnam, it was time for more bus experiences.

Reading on the internet that this is a pretty tough ride, Johannes and I decided to take the bus tour into Laos, not in one day but split the tour into two days – which was a good choice. Actually the ride wasn’t that bad – just long. From Sapa to Dien Bien at the border was 7 hours and 250k Dong. Spending the night there and taking the bus into Laos at 6am to make our way to Oudomxai (230k Dong). There we caught another bus to Pak Mong (40k Kip) and finally with the minibus to Nong Khiaw (25k Kip). We finally arrived in Nong Khiaw at 5pm…hungry and thirsty. The first Lao Beer and fried noodles were so goooood!

Would I do it again? Totally…
