After couple of days in Nong Khiaw Hiking & Mountain Biking we decided to move on. As it was Johannes birthday we wanted celebrate this day in a proper bar and adding some beers into the system. Hence we took the bus to Luang Prabang on December 6th. If you ever go to Luang Prabang and want to party, you shouldn’t skip Utopia and later take one of the tuktuks to throw some bowling balls. Most of the bars close around 11pm. So after having a look at the night & food market with street BBQ and beers.
We continued with several Jaeger Bomb and Whiskey Coke. Last I really remember is the bottle of Whiskey & Coke for 6 USD. You get, what you pay for!
Obviously the next day was no way of any real activity, curing hangover was priority and we took it easy. Pizza for late lunch and another night market in the evening where we met Jennifer again. We called it an early night as Kuang Si Waterfalls was on for next day. I wanted to hike the 32km as Jennifer cycled it up.
Then it was time to see the Gibbon Experience and I took the night bus to the border of Laos & Thailand. It took around 12 hours and I hate been on transportation for so long where I cannot really sleep well. But it was affordable with (180k KIP) and I arrived the next morning to check into Gibbon Experience and head into the jungle around 9am. This was also a [great experience – hiking, flying through the forrest, above the trees and sleeping in 70m high tree houses]. Absolutely recommend it. Not cheap but worth it!
My last two nights I spent in Sa Sa Lao – a hostel which is bit far out of downtown but located nicely at the river.
The bathtub at SaSa! I would have not liked to leave.
I’m sure you wouldn’t. Especially to avoid the mosquitos 😉
