What a great welcome to Sunshine Coast, Australia. Visiting my friend Inga and her family. Promised her 11 years ago I’d fly out to Australia to see how she lives in Down Under. Took me more then a decade to fulfill the promise but hey – I made it. Yay!!!
After dropping the kids at school Inga took me to Noosa National Park. We went on a 9k hike along the ocean coast, such a great nature here. Did I tell you that I’m an outdoor boy who loves hiking?!
After the hike we deserved some liquid refill in Bistro C and enjoyed a pretty good Pulled Pork Burger – also coming from Asian countries with low cost of living – I now feel my time in Australia and NZ will not be cheap. Not that I didn’t know, just experiencing it now…

The next day we went with the kids up the Mt. Coolum which is classified as National Park. It was a Saturday so pretty busy on that nice sunny day. 1,5 hours later, some shoulder carrier work & convincing chats to go to the top to qualify for an “after hike milk shake” we made it. Pretty nice view and breeze…

In the afternoon we’ve been invited over to John & Su’s home where I have seen my first free kangaroos running in their garden. Pretty impressive to see them in nature and not the zoo or packed up in the frozen supermarket. John has a wooden pizza oven next to his BBQ and we had proper Italian pizza. One of the best pizzas I had! Already checked, when the next pizza feast is planned. My favourite one – Salmon, onion & capers. The rocket prosciutto was also very yummy. Su baked a plum tart for desert which came with a afogato. What a perfect finish of a great day. Thanks again Su & John.

Sunday was Sailing Day! Luke, one of Inga’s friends has a sailing boat and he took us out for 3 hours sail & some swim fun near the beach. What great fun on the water. The boat reminds me of my aunties boat, both boats have been built in the 1960’s – great wooden pieces!
